This policy explains what personal information Know the Bible collects, why we collect it and the choices you have. It is written to follow the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. By registering you confirm that you have read it.
Who we are
Know the Bible is a Bible quiz game run by its organisers (the "organisers", "we"). You can reach us on WhatsApp at +234 805 120 4004 or through the contact section of our website.
What we collect
- At registration: first and last name, sex, age, country, phone number, email address and a password (stored only in scrambled, hashed form, never in plain text).
- While you play: your progress, levels completed, badges, and fair-play records such as warnings or suspensions.
- When you withdraw a prize: your bank name, account name and account number, so we can pay you, and, for players in Nigeria, your NIN (National Identification Number) to confirm your identity. We ask for these only at that point.
- Technical data: basic request information such as your network address, used to prevent abuse and cheating.
- Visit counts: a random code stored in your browser (no name, email or phone) that lets us count how many people are online and how many visited each day. For logged-in players we also count the player as active.
Why we use it
- To create and run your account and save your progress.
- To pay prizes you have won and keep payment records.
- To detect cheating, bots and multiple accounts, and to keep the game fair.
- To contact you about your account or prizes.
- To meet legal, tax and regulatory duties.
Our lawful basis is your consent (the box you tick when you register or withdraw), the need to run the game and pay prizes you have earned, and our legitimate interest in preventing fraud.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the game (for example hosting and database providers, and the payment or bank service used to pay prizes), and with regulators or the police when the law requires it. Some of these providers may process data outside Nigeria; where they do, we rely on providers that protect data to an appropriate standard.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data while your account is active. Payment records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymise your data unless the law obliges us to keep some of it.
Children and teenagers
The game is open to young people, but anyone under 18 should register only with the knowledge and permission of a parent or guardian. A parent or guardian who believes a child has registered without permission can contact us and we will delete the account and its data.
Your rights
You may ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, or withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect what we did before. You also have the right to complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
Security
Passwords are hashed, access to the admin area is protected, and connections to the site are encrypted. No system is perfectly secure, so please choose a strong, unique password and keep it private.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above. Continued use of the game means you accept the updated policy.
